Bill McIntyre is a registered patent attorney and member of the intellectual property law firm of Seager, Tufte & Wickhem.
Bill’s practice involves all aspects of intellectual property law, including patent portfolio strategy and management, transactional, counseling on domestic and foreign litigation, and patent enforcement strategies, along with trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. As a former General Counsel, Bill also brings extensive experience to his practice in the areas of corporate transactional work, litigation management, compliance and governance.
Bill also serves as outside General and Chief Patent Counsel for clients. His IP background, along with a dozen years serving as General Counsel of a Minneapolis corporation, allow him to bring a goal-oriented and strategic approach to his counseling of clients.
Prior to joining Seager, Tufte & Wickhem, Bill served as Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel for Katun Corporation, an international manufacturer and distributor of aftermarket components for office equipment. In that role, Bill oversaw all aspects of the company’s worldwide legal operations, including navigation of the heavily-patented aftermarket industry. Bill also sat on the Katun Board of Directors and served as Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer for the company.
Prior to joining Katun, Bill’s experience began with several years at the large IP firm of Merchant & Gould with a practice in intellectual property counseling, management and litigation.
Bill was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He received his J.D., cum laude, from The John Marshall Law School and his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He joined Seager, Tufte & Wickhem in 2019.
Bill is licensed to practice in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as well as the state courts of Minnesota and Wisconsin. He is a member of the Minnesota Intellectual Property Law Association (MIPLA), American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA), and the American Bar Association (ABA).
